Meet in the morning in the heart of Udine, Capital of Friuli, for a pleasant guided walk through the streets of the historic center. The city, elegant and collected, reveals its Venetian facets at every turn: Gothic loggias, bright squares and atmospheres reminiscent of the Serenissima. Along the way we also encounter the work of the young Giambattista Tiepolo, who took his first artistic steps right here.

Entrance to Udine Cathedral and then a visit to the Archbishop’s Palace, where you can admire Tiepolo’s famous Galleries: frescoed rooms of light and movement, one of the greatest masterpieces of 18th-century Italy.

In the afternoon, an appointment with great contemporary art: an exhibition of international resonance opens today at Casa Cavazzini – Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Udine. Beginning Jan. 30, 2026, the exhibition Impressionism and Modernity brings 91 works from the Kunst Museum Winterthur to the city, offering an immersive tour of the birth of modernity through some of Europe’s greatest masters.

Masterpieces by Claude Monet, Vincent Van Gogh, Pablo Picasso, Wassily Kandinsky and René Magritte shine in the exhibition, flanked by works by other leading figures of Impressionism, the avant-garde and Surrealism. An immersive artistic journey that spans decades of creative revolutions and delivers a visually rich afternoon.
