An unforgettable experience of hiking and bear sightings in the heart of Slovenia. a true green jewel of Europe, offering breathtaking landscapes: alpine peaks, enchanting lakes, karst caves and endless forests.

These natural habitats are home to one of the highest concentrations of brown bears in the world, as well as wolves, lynx and a wealth of wildlife.

Wild Routes, in collaboration with NET – Experiences in the Northeast, invites you on an exclusive journey to discover these magnificent animals!

The thrill of Bear Watching
Observing wild animals in their natural environment is no longer a dream; it can become reality. In Slovenia, you’ll have the unique opportunity to spot the brown bear, Europe’s largest carnivore, of course in total safety from special highrises.

Waiting silently in the forest at dusk, hoping to catch a glimpse of these majestic animals, is a priceless thrill. In addition, bear watching actively contributes to the conservation of bears and their habitat.

Trip Program (3 days – 2 nights)

  1. Day 1:
    Meet in Udine or Basovizza.
    Arrive and settle in Masun (Slovenia)
    Hike in the Mt. Snowy forest, looking for signs of presence with a visit to the bear den.
    Return to hotel and dinner.
    Evening briefing on living with large carnivores.
  2. Day 2:
    Wake up and have breakfast.
    Visit to Grad Snežnik, a 19th-century hunting lodge, and its park.
    Return to the Inn and have lunch.
    Bear watching: climb to the high rises for bear spotting.
    Return to the hotel and have dinner.
  3. Day 3:
    Wake up, breakfast, and check out
    Excursion to Rakov Å kocjan (Shrimp River) near Postojna.
    Packed lunch and return to Italy.

Tips

Recommended equipment:

  • Hiking boots (preferably tall and waterproof).
  • Head flashlight
  • Layered clothing.
  • Lightweight backpack.
  • Valid identity document for expatriation (ID card or passport).

Fee and Notes

Participation fee starts from 350 € per person (VAT included)

The Fee Includes:

  • Overnight stays in hotel in double room with breakfast.
  • Packed meals (dinner on the second day and lunch on the third).
  • Rental of the reredos for bear watching.
  • Accompaniment by environmental-hiking guide and experienced naturalist.
  • Entrance ticket to Grad Snežnik.

The fee does not include.

  • A la carte meals (dinner on the first day and lunch on the second day).
  • Extra drinks.
  • Transportation and travel (*)
  • The 'Travel Insurance (which can be requested).
  • Anything not specified in the section "The fee includes"

Important: Departure is guaranteed upon reaching the minimum number of 6 participants.
