The itinerary proposed by NET-Experiences in the Northeast begins in Trieste, a cosmopolitan city full of surprises. We will pass through its historic center with its charming squares before meeting our driver to reach the San Giusto Hill and then the Sanctuary of Monte Grisa, a 20th-century Brutalist-style construction from which there is an exceptional view of the Gulf of Trieste, Miramare Castle and nearby Slovenia and Croatia.

After a lunch with typical products on the Trieste Karst, the ‘guided excursion will lead us to the fascinating Rilke Trail, dedicated to the great Austrian-Bohemian poet, departing from Sistiana and arriving in the town of Duino. The scenic walk skirts the northern end of the Adriatic Sea
within the Duino Cliffs Nature Reserve; from a naturalistic point of view, it offers the opportunity to closely observe the phenomenon of karstification while being able to enjoy the constant contribution of the sea.

Once in Duino, we will visit its 14th-century castle and its fascinating park; crossing the courtyard, we will walk the Palladian Staircase, the 1810 fortepiano on which Franz Liszt played, and the extraordinary panorama we will be able to admire from its ramparts, from Punta Salvore to beyond the mouth of the Isonzo River.

To make sure we don’t miss anything, we will also visit the bunker, built in 1943 by the German Kriegsmarine.
