Once a major river trade crossroads, Aquileia played a key role in the history of the Roman Empire and in the spread of Christianity in Europe, thanks to the work of the evangelist St. Mark, who chose it as a missionary center. <\/p>\n<p>And that is why, by popular demand, <strong>NET-Experiences in the Northeast<\/strong> is once again offering a fascinating guided tour to discover Roman Aquileia: we will explore the forum, the river port and the cemetery of the heroes, located just behind the majestic Patriarchal Basilica. A symbolic monument of the city, the Basilica retains intact its millennial charm, despite numerous interventions and expansions over the centuries. <\/p>\n<p>The real treasure? The famous 750-square-meter floor mosaic of the southern hall, considered the largest in the Western Christian world.
